A hierarchy of the galaxy's most powerful Goa'uld, each controlling and operating from their own region of space. As the Goa'uld have a feudal society, these areas are constantly in dispute. Various System Lords are almost constantly in conflict with one another; if one Goa'uld is forced to abandon a planet, another will often take his or her place.
The System Lords form the highest level of authority within Goa'uld society, with lesser Goa'uld, Jaffà and human slaves in their service. They meet together on rare occasions to discuss their mutual interests and enemies.
Currently active System Lords include (but are not necessarily limited to) Atlas, Khnum, Selvans, Quetesh, Prometheus.
From time to time, there has been a single System Lord who dominates the others.Ra was called the "Supreme System Lord" before his death.
Atlas has obtained the title of Goa'uld Emperor.
At the fall of the System Lords, the third dynasty became extinct for some years and remained so until the advent of the fourth dynasty, founded a chord with the whole galaxy of the Goa'uld secret survivors.
The result of a Dynasty 'agreement between Atum and Atlas has sanctioned the revival of' Goa'uld Empire and the election of seven Lords of the system including a Supreme System Lord.
Initially, the System Lords were not current ones, other Goa'uld had risen to power, but soon their kingdoms crumble and they did not heard from again, other Goa'uld soprpassarono incorporating them their remaining strength and built the new power in the galaxy. Among them the most powerful Atlas and Atum remained, but later rose to the rank of other Goa'uld System Lord, and among these we include: Khnum, Selvans, Quetesh, Prometheus.
